The clip posted on TikTok shows the mother teaching the “best travel trick to keep peace on a long journey.” To do this, she removes the driver’s headrest, places a plastic bag with a seal on the headrest attachments, and makes two holes in it with scissors; then she puts the piece back.
The woman takes her phone and plays a children’s video, then puts the device inside the plastic bag, closes it, thus creating a hands-free screen for the little ones.
“Things I wish I knew as a first-time mom,” wrote the TikToker in the video’s captions that garnered more than 50 million views.
But despite seeming practical, the idea did not please everyone; many people criticized the mother for offering more screen time to the children instead of interacting with them; some internet users also suggested offering healthier activities to distract the little ones.
“Oh, yes, keep them addicted to those screens,” said one. “Give them a book to read,” suggested another.
